What little playing time vs. 49ers means for Tony Pollard; Cowboys continue this preseason trend

The first preseason game is in the books for the Cowboys. Another loss should come as no surprise. Dallas has now dropped five consecutive preseason games with its 17-9 loss to San Francisco. The team's last victory came nearly two years ago. Oh yeah, one other thing. This group hasn't scored a preseason touchdown in three consecutive games. Does it matter? Not necessarily. What takes place in August rarely provides any sort of barometer into the team's regular-season success, or lack thereof. What it does is continue a trend. Starters and key backups generally played well for Dallas. The drop off came after those two units. "I thought we did a good job at the outset of the game,'' head coach Jason Garrett said after Saturday night's loss. "The offense got it first, drove it well. Bogged down a little bit in the red zone and had to settle for the field goal, but there was good rhythm, a good mix there.I thought the tempo was good, the ur

Move over,  Ezekiel Elliott . Dallas Cowboys contract drama knows no bounds. The latest: According to NFL insider and analyst Michael Lombardi, quarterback  Dak Prescott   recently turned down an offer  that  While that seems like a mess for the Cowboys, this isn’t all that surprising. Once  Eagles  quarterback  Carson Wentz  took a deal during the spring with the  most guaranteed money ever , Prescott (less touted, but more durable and the owner of similar career numbers since their draft year in 2016) was going to leverage the Cowboys for a ton  Prescott, 26, can be a free agent after the 2019 season—unless the Cowboys place the franchise tag on their signal caller. Since entering the NFL as a fourth round pick in 2016, Prescott owns a 32-16 record, 66.1 completion percentage, 96.0 passer rating, 14 game-winning drives and hasn’t missed a start. Those numbers include a big increase (71%, 14 TD, 4 INT after trade deadline) down the stretch last season when wide receiver Amari C

Dak Prescott reportedly turns down contract offer

DALLAS  - While running back Ezekiel Elliott is holding out for a new contract, quarterback Dak Prescott reportedly turned down a deal. The report comes from Michael Lombardi with The Athletic. He said Prescott rejected a $30 million per year offer. Other details like how much would be guaranteed are not clear. Prescott is going into the final year of his rookie contract. He could be a free agent after this season if the Cowboys fail to sign him. The drive stalled when his third-down pass in the red zone was batted at the line by Sheldon Day right back to Prescott, who lost a yard on the play, setting up Brett Maher's first of three field goals. "I just wanted to show I could catch too," Prescott said. "At that point, I figured it was time to get down." Dallas didn't have its entire first-team offense on the field as star running back Ezekiel Elliott remains a holdout in search of a new contract. Rookie Tony Pollard got the nod and ran four time

Reds' Aristides Aquino Broke The Cubs And Made Some History

Reds' Aristides Aquino Broke The  Cubs And Made Some History Reds rookie Aristides Aquino decided to have his breakout game against the Cubs on Saturday with three home runs in his first three at-bats, and a new record of becoming the first rookie to smash a dinger in three consecutive innings. The Cubs seemed fundamentally incapable of stopping the man until Alec Mills struck him out in the bottom of the seventh, but not only was the score 10-0 in favor of Cincinnati by then, Aquino had already added his name a couple more times into the  record books . His homer hat-trick put him at seven dingers in his first 10 games, tying a mark set by Rockies shortstop Trevor Story. He also became the second player in MLB history to have a three-homer game in his first 10 games. Cue the  humble quotes : “It’s really nice. That’s why I put on a show out there, for the fans to enjoy that,” Aquino said via translator Julio Morillo. “I enjoyed the moment.” [...]“First of all, the ma

Nicolas Pépé cameo gives Arsenal cause for optimism in workaday win The £72m record signing’s arrival off the bench was of potentially far  greater significance for the Gunners than the 1-0 victory over Newcastle United Premier League substitute appearance enduring 20 minutes in addition to damage time and 10 to a great extent unremarkable contacts may not appear much, however in them were exemplified Arms stockpile's purposes behind good faith. In time, Nicolas Pépé will content his very own story and will be made a decision on those terms be that as it may, for the present, his worth is to a great extent representative. The £72m record marking is the totem for this new age for Stockpile. His landing from the seat was welcomed with a gigantic thunder from the Weapons store fans accumulated high in the Leazes End and his essence was sufficient to change a basically workaday Stockpile win into something of conceivably far more noteworthy importance.  For 58 minutes at
