Crews Use Bulldozer to Fortify Long Beach Shore During High Surf, Large Waves

High surf and big waves threatened beachfront homes in Long Beach, California, on Saturday, December 30, amid storms along the coast. Video filmed by X user @ericmadridmd shows a wall of sand and a bulldozer being used to fortify the beach area as high surf brings water close to homes on Long Beach Peninsula. In nearby Ventura County the National Weather Service issued a flood advisory and an emergency evacuation was ordered for people living along the Pacific Coast Highway. Explosion at Indonesian nickel plant kills 13 people

More than 10 people have died, and dozens more are injured after an explosion at a nickel plant in Indonesia. Nine of the victims were Indonesian, and four were Chinese. The incident unfolded after repair work on a furnace mixed with flammable liquid ignited and caused oxygen tanks to explode. It took crews several hours to bring the fireball under control. Florida Police Use Lost Wallet Excuse to Help Man Propose

When Emery arrived at Lake Morton to collect the wallet, Craig emerged from the police vehicle with flowers. Florida Police Called to Investigate ‘Gunshots’ Find Family’s Puppy

Florida police who were called after homeowners heard what they believed to be gunshots instead found a small “pupper-trator” on December 16, footage shows. Body camera footage shows officers knocking on the front door of a home with an attached business in Bradenton. Police posted the video to Facebook with a spin on the classic ’Twas the Night Before Christmas poem. Police are seen locating the source of the noises – the family’s small puppy, which had gotten stuck among stowed items. “I think I found the culprit,” an officer is heard saying as he holds the tiny dog in one hand. “You said you heard voices?” an officer says to the family waiting outside. “Oh, that’s our baby,” a woman responds.
