Federal government to implement new reforms to put pressure on childcare prices

Education Minister Jason Clare outlines key steps the Albanese government is implementing to bring down childcare fees. Mr Clare’s comments come after a new report found Australian families are spending as much as 16 per cent of their income on childcare. The ACCC report found the country ranked 26 out of 32 OECD countries when it came to childcare affordability. “A number of things need to happen if we’re going to put pressure on prices,” Mr Clare told Sky News Australia. “Step one are the reforms that we implemented in July to make childcare cheaper and that’s pushed the prices down by 14 per cent. “Step two are some of the reforms that are floated in this report and they’ll give us their final report in December. “Step three is the big work that’s being done by the productivity commission right now on what a universal early education system should look like for the next 10 years and beyond.” Via news.com.au — Australia’s leading news site https://www.news.com.au
