Fact-checking ecosystem has led to censorship over important discussions in countless cases

In countless cases over the last few years, the fact-checking ecosystem has labelled contested facts as being false – leading to censorship over important discussions, says Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton. This comes as draft legislation from the Albanese government would grant the Australian Media and Communications Authority (ACMA) the power to issue fines to social media companies that fail to adequately crack down on misinformation. “The left clearly has a stronger grip on institutions and the danger with fact checkers turning their gaze to opinions is that one side of politics will have a strangle hold on acceptable discourse,” Mr Houghton said. “Eventually, no contrary opinion will be safe, no matter who you are.” Via news.com.au — Australia’s leading news site https://www.news.com.au
