A derelict tugboat sank in Seattle’s Salmon Bay on the morning of Monday, March 20, with the Seattle Fire Department and the US Coast Guard (USCG) responding to the incident. At around 10:48 am, crews responded to the incident on the 5300 block of 26th Avenue NW. The USCG confirmed that there were no pollutants on board the tugboat. All diesel and oily water was removed in 2021 after the vessel was deemed derelict, officials said. “Two other abandoned vessels were tied off to the tugboat at the time of the sinking. These have been secured and do not present a hazard to maritime traffic,” the USGC said.
