A Brazilian art collector is suing a US art gallery over a $5 million Van Gogh painting on loan. He says it was stolen from him, and he wants it back, but a judge has ordered it not to be returned. Une Liseuse De Romans – also known as The Novel Reader – is at the centre of a newly filed lawsuit against the Detroit Institute of Arts. Art collector Gustavo Soter claims he bought the piece six years ago and gave possession to a 3rd party but not the title. Mr Soter said the 3rd party took off with the painting immediately.
