Biden declares major disaster in Florida

Residents of Florida are dealing with the damage and devastation caused by Hurricane Ian, which has been described as the state's deadliest hurricane. The Biden administration has pledged federal resources to help communities recover. US President Joe Biden issued a major disaster declaration for Florida in order to funnel federal money and resources into the nine hardest hit counties. “The federal government will cover 100 per cent of the cost to clear debris and for all the cost the state has to engage in and expend to save lives,” Mr Biden said.
