Former prime minister Scott Morrison “technically acted within the rules” but “undermined” the conventions of transparency and responsible government, Political Reporter Trudy McIntosh says. The legal advice prepared by Australia’s Solicitor-General Stephen Donaghue QC into the former prime minister’s portfolio scandal was released on Tuesday. Ms McIntosh said Mr Donaghue has considered Mr Morrison’s appointments into several portfolios as constitutionally valid. “The top line summary out of the Solicitor-General's advice here was, yes, Scott Morrison was acting within the law,” she told Sky News Australia. “Scott Morrison technically acted within the rules, but the conventions of transparency and informing the parliament and the people were undermined, according to the Solicitor-General.” Via news.com.au — Australia’s leading news site https://www.news.com.au
