‘Ambitious’: World’s largest hydrogen plant to be built in South Australia

South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has spruiked his government's $593 million green hydrogen plant to be built in Whyalla but says the plan does not come without risk. The world's largest hydrogen plant is set to be built in South Australia. The government-funded project has attracted interest from 60 organisations around Australia and globally. Mr Malinauskas said the plant is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2025. He said it will alleviate pressure on the state's energy system but "is not going to solve every problem". "It is an ambitious policy – it's not without a degree of risk in a policy sense but also in a technical sense," he told Sky News Australia. "But everything that has happened since our election four-five months ago, has actually given me even greater confidence that our ambitions are able to be realised – principally because of the international interest."
