An African lion family was given straw bedding taken from a zoo’s mountain goat area for some sensory enrichment, as seen in a video shared by the Oregon Zoo. “They’re getting some intriguing smells to consider, and they seem to love it,” said Kelly Gomez, who manages the zoo’s Africa area. “Adding scent-rich items to their environment is one of the things we do to help keep them healthy and happy.” The goal of the bedding change was to change up the lion’s environment and keep them on their toes, according to Gomez.
