Hurley to take part in Warne’s memorial

The 52-year-old tragically died of a heart attack earlier this month while holidaying in Thailand, and was laid to rest in a private funeral service two weekends ago.Former Collingwood president Eddie McGuire will serve as master of ceremonies and told reporters on Tuesday while Warne’s ex-fiancee Liz Hurley won’t attend the event in person, she will be “part of the show”.Described by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews as “an opportunity for Victorians to pay tribute to his contribution to his sport, to our state and the country”, here’s everything you need to know about Wednesday’s memorial.Where will it be held?The service will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), in the spin king’s home state. It served as the stage for many of his most iconic moments – from his famous Ashes hat-trick in 1994 to the claiming of his 700th wicket against England on the first day of the fourth Ashes Test in 2006.What time is it?The state funeral is scheduled to commence at 7pm AEDT, but all guests are requested to be seated by 6.45pm.The MCG gates will open at 5.30pm.The memorial will run for approximately two hours, with an estimated 9.15pm finish.Warne’s family have requested that public attendees come to the State Memorial dressed in their cricket gear.How can you watch?If you aren’t in Melbourne, the highly anticipated event will be broadcast live on Fox Cricket and also by other national networks including ABC News, 9GEM, Channel 7 and Channel 10.Fox Cricket will present Shane Warne – A Celebration from 6pm AEDT before the service gets underway at 7pm.Can you still get tickets?There are still some free tickets available at Ticketek.Who’s performing/attending?British musicians Elton John, Ed Sheeran and Chris Martin are sending video contributions for the state funeral, while golf icon Greg Norman, former New Zealand cricket captain Stephen Fleming and Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar will also do video tributes.West Indies legend Brian Lara, former England captain Nasser Hussain and former Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram are travelling to Melbourne to pay their respects.Shane Warne’s family — including dad Keith and his three children — will deliver speeches.Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and former Prime Minister John Howard have also been invited.
