Big shake-up to Channel 7 commentary team

Try 14-days free now.Richardson represented the Tigers in 282 AFL games between 1993-2009, scoring 800 goals for Richmond.He was a three-time All-Australian, inducted into the Australian Football Hall of Fame in 2014.Last week, News Corp reported that footy legend Wayne Carey was set to be moved off Channel 7’s Friday Night Footy coverage as the station overhauled it’s commentary stocks.Carey, a two-time premiership winner and seven-time All-Australian, is expected to be replaced by Daisy Pearce on Friday nights.Pearce is set to join Hawthorn premiership captain Luke Hodge on special comments, with Brian Taylor and James Brayshaw calling the game.“There are a number of changes that are going to happen and it’s just to freshen up the roster,” Seven’s managing director Lewis Martin told The Herald Sun.“He’s (Carey) coming off SAS, so there’s going to be a number of rotations.”Abbey Gelmi, Abbey Holmes, Jacqui Felgate, Jimmy Bartel, Cameron Ling and Jobe Watson will also feature on Channel 7’s coverage.Meanwhile, former Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley’s decision to join the Fox Footy commentary team for 2022 remains the biggest footy media move of the off-season.Buckley says the deal means he will not be involved in coaching in 2022, but his plans beyond next year remain unknown.“I determined really early that I would take some time to consider my next step in footy so returning to clubland in 2022 was off the table really quickly after leaving Collingwood,” he said last year.“The last few years have been tough on every single person and people who work in footy have been no different. Longer hours, less pay, living away from home, losing colleagues, even more scrutiny than normal.“The commitment required at club level is higher than at any time I can remember.
