Officials warned residents in southern Florida to watch for “falling iguanas” on Sunday, January 30, amid a cold snap in the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) reported the cold blooded reptiles “slow down or become immobile when temps drop into the 40s.” “They may fall from trees, but they are not dead” wrote the NWS. Temperatures in parts of southern Florida plummeted as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit (-3.9 Celcius) on Sunday morning.
