New year to bring scorching hot weather

The city will begin 2022 on a brighter note amid coronavirus chaos with a scorching start to the year expected to stick around.The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting temperatures to top 30C across the Harbour City on New Year’s Day.And it’s expected to be a clear and muggy New Year’s Eve night ahead of the scorching temperatures as high as 34C coming Sydney’s way. But then showers are forecast from Tuesday.With beaches expected to be packed, Sydneysiders are finding other ways to cool down.If you live in the city’s west you’ll have no problem escaping the heat at one of the several pop-up water parks. “They’re an excellent idea for families, it saves them all the hassle of trips to the beach,” Ramsen Mikhaeel said at one in Middleton Grange this week.“We can’t go that often but having this just down the road, a water park, is excellent. “We wish there was one water park in each suburb it would have been an excellent idea for the future because the beach will always be packed.”“We’re coming here once or twice a week at the moment.”In other parts of Australia, Queensland can expect a rainy welcome to 2022, with two months of rain expected to hit far north areas in eight days, while a heatwave was predicted for Victoria and Tasmania.Got a news tip?
