Melbourne’s New Year’s Eve drone show cancelled due to pandemic

Melbourne has cancelled one of its highly-anticipated New Year's Eve events due to the COVID pandemic. The drone show at Docklands has been axed due to staff isolations and major delays in the shipping of key equipment. The event which features 350 drones forming festive images above Victoria Harbour is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The council hired UK-based firm Celestial to deliver the lightshow. Authorities hope the display can be moved to January next year.
