The 27-year-old allegedly drove the car through the tent which had two adults and three children sleeping inside at the West Kentish Road Campgrounds, in the state’s northwest, about 2am Saturday.Tasmania Police said he then narrowly missed other tents and people in the area before crashing into a tree.The family were rushed to the Northwest Regional Hospital with injuries ranging from minor lacerations to suspected internal injuries.“Tasmania Police would like to thank all members of the public that assisted with this incident, as their actions undoubtedly prevented further people from being seriously injured,” police said in a statement.Acting Sergeant Fabienne Jamieson said the male, who is now in police custody, was allegedly “exhibiting anti-social behaviour prior to the crash”.Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information about the crash has been asked to come forward.“As we continue our investigation into the incident, we seek any information from members of the public who were in the area at the time,” police said.Police urge anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 131 444 or on Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website.
