New lava tubes on the erupting volcano on Spain's La Palma Island have sent streams of molten lava downhill at speeds of a metre per second, threatening what is left of the island's infrastructure. The flowing lava is threatening the town of La Laguna. The eruption has destroyed more than 1,200 homes, 300 other buildings and displaced more than 6,000 people. The eruption has surged and ebbed since September 19 and could last for up to three months. Via news.com.au — Australia’s leading news site https://www.news.com.au
