And in Doreen, 15 Downey Drive sold for a mighty $962,000 at online auction on Tuesday. The sale was $182,000 above the $780,000 reserve.More than 50 people inspected the three-bedroom Federation-style home on a corner block, with three serious buyers sticking their hand up on the day. Barry Plant Doreen’s John Heath said it was a “great result”.“I was confident we would at least hit their reserve,” Mr Heath said. “Fortunately there were two buyers who certainly saw value in it, well into the $900,000s.”He said the new owner was a mature buyer looking to move “closer to her children”.The underbidder was vying for the property on behalf of his parents who lived regionally, the agent added. Both agents said they decided to proceed with a virtual auction — despite 50 people now being allowed at on-street sales — as they were confident in the process.Sign up to the Herald Sun Weekly Real Estate Update.
