Republicans torch Joe Biden for ‘predictable’ blame shifting onto Trump

Republicans and Trump allies have taken to social media to slam Joe Biden for shifting partial blame for the Afghanistan crisis onto his predecessor Donald Trump with one congressman saying the president “failed” and should resign. "How many times did he blame Trump?” Congressman Ronny Jackson tweeted. “Mr. Biden, YOU ARE THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF! STOP blaming Trump for your FAILURES! You're a FAILED President and you need to RESIGN!” The president addressed the nation today to discuss Afghanistan and mentioned his predecessor's conversations with the Taliban. "The previous administration’s agreement said that if we stuck to the May 1st deadline that they had signed on to leave by, the Taliban wouldn’t attack any American forces,” Mr Biden said. “But if we stayed all bets were off, so we were left with a simple decision. “Either follow through on the commitment made by the last administration and leave Afghanistan or say we weren’t leaving and commit another tens of thousands more troops going back to war. “That was the choice. The real choice between leaving or escalating." The speech left some Republicans infuriated with President Biden’s comments on the Trump administration and his overall decision to remove US troops by August 31. "And HERE is the predictable "Blame Trump" moment for the DISASTROUS decision that Joe Biden made!” Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted.
