Australia not listed as part of America’s diplomatic mission in Middle East

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken has listed the governments and organisations America collaborated with to continue diplomatic missions in the Middle East but Australia was not among those. Australia has not played a major role in the Afghanistan withdrawal and it is reported Australian officials were not even notified the August 31 deadline had been set. Australia’s minimised role in the withdrawal is indicative of the diplomatic relationship with the US, who only engage on matters of climate change. The exclusion of Australia from the end of a critical issue like the end of the Afghanistan mission highlight the relationship has changed and is likely to set the tone for the remainder of Joe Biden’s presidency.
