Heavy rainfall flooded areas in Japan’s Shizuoka Prefecture on July 29 due to unstable atmospheric conditions caused by a typhoon off the coast of Akita, according to local weather authorities. The Shizuoka Local Meteorological Observatory warned of possible sediment disasters, strong wind gusts, and lightning strikes. Evacuation alerts and orders were issued locally on Thursday.
