Japan is set to ease its state of emergency declaration in nine areas on Sunday as final preparations begin ahead of next month’s Tokyo Olympic Games. The country entered into in a state of emergency in late March in an attempt to curb a fourth wave of the coronavirus which saw daily cases peak above 7,000 in May. Under new measures, Tokyo and six other districts will still face restrictions until July 11 which include the early closure of bars and restaurants.
