Gippsland town covering in cobwebs

Millions of spiders have created cobwebs covering a regional Victorian town of after flooding drove them out of a nearby forest. Wellington Shire councillor and avid spider watcher Carolyn Crossley told Sky News the spiders “literally parachuted out of the ground” to escape the recent flooding. “The area behind me is not normally a lake, that’s usually paddocks so the … spiders had to go somewhere,” she said. “Millions of them spun their webs and flew up, and this amazing, probably once in a lifetime experience of seeing this billowing silken parachute that they had created … cover the landscape”.
