Australia will not be vaccinated until November 2022 ‘at the current rate’

The Grattan Institute's Stephen Duckett says the nation will not be vaccinated until the end of 2022 if the rollout continues “at the current rate”. “That’s way beyond even the budget projection,” he said. “This is just not on, we should actually be trying to change that, so we get more done. “The vaccines are there now, it’s not like it was a month ago”. The Sydney Morning Herald reported AstraZeneca doses were going unused on a mass scale in New South Wales, pointing to one facility which had 3,000 doses sitting in its government fridge but was struggling to do 50 appointments a day. Mr Duckett told Sky News the government should “get the best minds into running a really great campaign to get those vaccinated numbers up” since there is “plenty of AstraZeneca just stored there waiting to be used”.
