Hospital Staff Protest Stanford’s Vaccine Rollout Plan for Leaving Out Frontline Workers

Healthcare workers at Stanford Medical Center protested the vaccine rollout plan at the Palo Alto, California-based university on December 18, claiming frontline workers and those who work directly with COVID-19 patients were not prioritized. Video taken by Twitter user @drdrdippy shows demonstrators marching, chanting “First in the room, back of the line.” Stanford Medical Center had planned to leave out 1,300 frontline workers from the first round of the COVID-19 vaccinations, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. An email was sent to staff following the demonstration, stating a revised distribution plan was in the works.
