‘Why Is She Just Laying There?’: Protester Lies on Ground Surrounded by Police in Tampa

A protester was filmed lying on the ground surrounded by police while onlookers tried to check on the woman’s welfare in downtown Tampa, Florida, on August 12. In this video of the incident, a person can be seen on the ground encircled by a group of Tampa Police Department officers. “Why is just laying there?” a voice can be heard saying in the background at one point, while another voice can be heard saying: “Are you OK?” In another video from the same location, an officer can be seen with one knee on a person wearing clothes matching those on the protester in this footage. “Stop, stop, stop, get your knee off her neck,” a voice can be heard saying in the other video.
