SpaceX Launches South Korean Satellite Into Orbit

SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from the Cape Cavernal Air Force Station in Florida, on July 20, lifting a South Korean military communications satellite into orbit. The launch involved two rocket stages, with the first falling away before successfully landing on a SpaceX vessel stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. The second stage propelled the South Korean Anasis 2 satellite into space. The launch also saw both of the rocket’s fairing pieces – each reportedly worth around $6 million – “caught” after the launch, according to a tweet from SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. Part of the SpaceX mission has been to create reusable rockets that make spaceflight cheaper.
