Australia ‘fortunate’ to be an isolated island to protect against coronavirus

Australian Border Force Commissioner Michael Outram says Australia is "very fortunate" it is an isolated island, allowing for better protection against the spread of coronavirus by focusing on key "choke points". "We've already intervened with half a million passengers over the last couple of weeks with enhanced screening as passengers come into our airports," Mr Outram said. "We want to deter people from making the decision to come to Australia if they aren't feeling well - and realise that if they do so there is a risk they won't get through or be put into quarantine," he said. "We don't want to stop people travelling to Australia, we want to make sure they're armed with the correct information."
