SA budget surplus unlikely after fires

The financial fallout of the bushfire crisis has made a South Australian budget surplus unlikely, according to the state's treasurer. In the mid-year budget review in December, Treasurer Rob Lucas predicted a budget surplus of $91 million for 2019-2020. The most significant fires in South Australia this fire season have been the Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island fires. Three lives were lost as well as more than 160 homes.
