Morrison announces new National Emergency Medal for those helped with bush fire effort

January 26, 2020. The Prime Minister Scott Morrison speaking at the Australia Day Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony 2020. Mr Morrison announces that all those people who fought and helped support the fire fighting effort around Australia, will receive a medal of recognition. "The spirit of the volunteer understands that our nation's greatest lies not in the great buildings behind me here, but in the strength and vitality of thousands of local communities that together that make up our incredible nation," Mr Morrison says.
