Tragedy as man’s body found in flood waters

The 65-year-old was last known to be on a tractor on a property off Blacksmiths Road at Nathalia, east of Echuca on Tuesday afternoon. Emergency services began a search in the vicinity of where he was last known to be after concerns were raised for his welfare when he failed to return home about 10pm.A search overnight found the unoccupied tractor in flood waters.Sadly a family member found the man’s body in floodwaters on Paynes Road about 8.45am.The exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined but at this stage it is not being treated as suspicious.The tragedy comes after a man died in Rochester during floods in the northern Victorian town.The 54-year-old was found unconscious in a backyard swimming pool before being flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he died on Saturday morning. European markets ‘warmly received’ UK tax cut reversal

The UK government’s reversal of Prime Minister Liz Truss’ proposed tax cuts has been “warmly received” by markets across Europe, according to CommSec’s Tom Piotrowski. “In London, the FTSE was up 0.2 of a per cent, the German DAX was up by almost 0.9 of a per cent,” he told Sky News Australia. “US markets started off on a very strong footing – they were up by as much as two per cent, in the case of the S&P 500 at its best levels, but gave up ground over the course of the day. “Came to rest with an improvement of around 0.9 of a per cent.” Presented by CommSec.
